Debugging Nimbus Addins

Debugging Nimbus Addins

For support purposes, it is possible to setup Debug on the Nimbus Microsoft Office AddIns.  This then provides a log file which can be provided to our technical team to assist in troubleshooting errors within the Addins.

Configuring the log file to provide detailed information

To do this perform the following:

  1. Logon to the PC where your MS Office AddIns are installed
  2. Close ALL MS Office programs
  3. Open a Folder / Windows Explorer
  4. Navigate to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Nimbus\Log
    1. Where UserName is the name of the User
  5. Create a text file called “Logging.ini”
    1. Right mouse click
    2. Select New, then select Text Document
    3. Call this file “Logging.ini”
  6. Open the Logging.ini file using Notepad and enter the following:
    1. Level=DEBUG
    2. Save the file
    3. Make sure that you have file extensions showing as the file may be saved as Logging.ini.txt - if so the .txt needs to be removed.
  7. Check the location C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Nimbus\Log to see if there already is a file called NimbusLog.Log
    1. If there is, rename this file to be NimbusLog.old
  8. Login to the Microsoft Office product that is causing an error:
    1. Eg: Login to Outlook, and also login to Nimbus
    2. Perform the task that is causing an issue
    3. The system will then log this issue into a file called “NimbusLog.Log”
  9. Take a copy of this NimbusLog.Log file and send to our support team via support@nimbusportals.com
