Upgrading your Xero SME to Nimbus connection

As a result of a recent security upgrade implemented by Xero, all Xero app partners connecting to Xero Practice Manager, WorkflowMax and Xero SME have to comply with the new security standard by 30 September 2020.

Xero is changing the way in which it allows Nimbus to pull information from your Xero SME account.

To assist with this change, the connection between your Xero SME account and Nimbus must be updated before the 30th of September, 2020.

Note: as part of the upgrade, Xero requires that Two Factor Authentication (2FA) be enforced for ALL STAFF. This will be switched on automatically during the upgrade if not already enabled. When a staff member logs in to their Nimbus account, the 2FA pin will be sent via SMS. If there is no mobile number entered against the Employee profile, it will be sent via email. 2FA is required for both the Nimbus web browser login and login via the CDM AddIns.

The following article explains the steps involved in upgrading the connection between your WFM account and Nimbus.

Upgrading your Xero SME to Nimbus connection

  1. Login to your Nimbus account with Admin access

  2. Select Admin / AutoMate

  3. Ensure that NO STAFF are modifying your Xero SME account

  4. The system will advise the Xero SME account you are currently connected to

  5. Click the Connect to Xero button to make a new connection

  6. NOTE: If your browser settings blocked the Xero login dialog to pop-up, please check and allow your browser pop-ups as follows:

  7. If you are NOT logged into your Xero SME account, you will be asked to login via the following screen:

  8. Enter the Staff member credentials to log in to Xero SME

  9. The system will then display the following screen requesting you to confirm the Xero SME

    account your Nimbus account will connect to. Please ensure you select the CORRECT SME account.

  10. To proceed with the connection, click the Allow access button.

  11. Some browsers may then display the following page. Please click Yes to close the tab.

  12. The system will now display the Xero SME Configuration pop-up dialog as shown below.

  13. Ensure the correct Xero SME account and Contact types are selected before proceeding. Note that the system will pre-fill the Contact types from your last Xero SME to Nimbus connection.

  14. Click the Update button to perform a Full Client Sync into your Nimbus account.
