With Nimbus CDM, we give you the choice of intimate integration to Microsoft® Office™ (2010 – 2019) and Office 365™ (you must be running the Office 365 software locally, not via the Cloud), or our license and royalty free online editors for standard document types and spreadsheets. The Nimbus MS Add-ins currently only run on Windows PCs.
We therefore offer Add-Ins to the following Microsoft Office:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint


Prior to Installation

If you are using a MS Office version prior to 2013, you might require the Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime to be installed on your system. If this is not present, it can be downloaded from the Microsoft Office website via https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=48217 OR it can be downloaded from your Nimbus system. Instructions for the download of this file are listed below.

Downloading setup files from Nimbus

To download the Nimbus MS Add-ins from your Nimbus system, perform the following:

  • Login to Nimbus and select Documents from the left hand side menu
  • Ensure your display mode shows a folder view; use the Switch Mode button to change modes to display a folder view
  • On the folder view on the Left Hand side of the screen, click the Blue Folder icon for the Nimbus Documents
  • Expand the Nimbus Documents folder to display the sub-folders, and then click on the MS Office CDM Support folder as shown below. The documents stored within this folder will display to the right on the grid.
  • Click on the document link for the latest CDM Add-ins 2.x.x.x.zip (you can find this by using the Modified filed to sort by descending, the top file should be the latest version).
    The system will display a standard page (advising that the document cannot be viewed within Nimbus) and will display a Download button at the bottom of the page. Click the Download button to download each file into a Download folder.

  • Once the zip file is finished downloading, the zip file should contain the following files:

    Nimbus.WordAddIn.Setup.msi

    Nimbus.ExcelAddIn.Setup.msi

    Nimbus.OutlookAddIn.Setup.msi

    Nimbus.PowerPointAddIn.Setup.msi

    Extract all .msi files from the zip into a location you can access.

  • Next, check if you require the Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime, click on the Document link for the vstor.redist.exe file as well. 
    The system will display a standard page (advising that the document cannot be viewed within Nimbus) and will display a Download button on the bottom of the page. Click the Download button to download each file into a Download folder.

  • Once all the required files are downloaded follow the next steps Installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (if applicable) and Installing Nimbus MS Add-ins  to see how to install them.

Installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime

Once you have downloaded the vstor_redist.exe, click the .exe file to start the installation.

  • Double click on the file to run the setup process
  • Click the Yes button to continue with the installation.

  • Accept the Microsoft Terms and Conditions and click the Install button. This process will only take a matter of seconds to run.
  • When the installation is complete, click the Finish button.

Installing Nimbus MS Add-ins

Once you have downloaded all required files, these will need to be installed either on each Workstation, Profile or SOE.

  • Locate each Nimbus Add-in Setup file
  • Double-click on the .msi file to run the setup process
  • Click the Yes button to continue with the installation. This process will only take a matter of seconds to run.
  • A successful installation will provide the user with the Nimbus CDM Add-in for each application.
    As an example, for Excel, the Open dialogue will now display as follows:


Accessing Nimbus Documents from Word

The Nimbus Microsoft Add-ins allow you to access Nimbus documents directly from Word. This is performed by logging into Nimbus from within Word itself.

  • Open Word and you will see that the Nimbus Add-ins are now loaded.
  • Click Open Other Documents from the Word Menu

  • Click the Nimbus CDM menu

  • Then click the Cloud Document Management Browse button

  • A Nimbus Login page will display on the right hand side as shown below:

  • To login to your Nimbus Account, you will need to perform the following:
    • Load your Nimbus staff member login page in your browser
    • Copy the URL
    • Paste this URL into the Word Login, click the Next button and then enter your Nimbus Login code and Password
    • Click the Login button to login to Nimbus (from within Word)
    • By Default, the system will display a Document List

  • You may access all number of folders, including document templates, and you may call any View, which has previously been saved in Nimbus.

Uninstalling Nimbus Add-Ins(no longer necessary)

It is no longer necessary to uninstall your Nimbus Add-ins in order to install updated versions.  The new installation routine will un-install the prior version before installing the current version.

You can check the version of your Add-ins by viewing the Change or Remove a program option. This can be found via the Control Panel.

  • Sort the listing by the Publisher column, to show all of the Nimbus Add-Ins together.
