What is a double-barrelled surname? A double-barrelled surname is created by combining the surnames of a married couple by either using a hyphen or by simply adding the second name onto the husband's or wife's existing surname.

In Xero, for any individual or sole trader client entities, the system Nimbus will automatically create a primary contact using the details in Xero from the Individual / Sole Trader client entity.

However, this may pose a problem if you have a contact in Xero for this client who is added to another client entity, such as a Trust or Superannuation Fund entity type.
For the contact created by the system from the client details, you will see that the last name for the client is correct
The contact that Nimbus creates using the Xero Client Entity details will show the First Name and the Surname correctly in Nimbus. However, for the contact created on the client, you will see that the first name is double barrelled and not the last name, which is incorrect.

...

To fix this, you will need to look at the contacts and filter the contacts to show the client required. Then for the contact with the incorrect name field, you will need to update the contact to not have Folder Access, Folder Read/Write and Portal Access enabled.
Then you will need to make sure that every client entity the client needs access to, the right contact, has a relationship to them. Go to the Client grid, filter the clients required and add the correct contact to have a relationship with that client entityin Xero and related to another Client Entity (eg: Partnership, Trust, Company etc), when this is created in Nimbus, it will show incorrectly with part of the Surname showing in the First Names field and not in the Surname field.

An example is provided below detailing the contact which is automatically created in Nimbus using the details from the Individual Client Entity, AND the contact that has been added to the Company Entity in Xero. You can see that the surname is not correctly handled for the Contact related to the Company.

...

To fix this issue, we recommend that you make a manual relationship between the contact created for the Individual Client Entity and the Company Client Entity. When you make this relationship, ensure you enable folder Access and Folder Read/Write access. Repeat this process for all other Client Entities that this contact needs a relationship with.

For instructions on how to manually create a relationship between a contact and a client entity, please refer to https://nimbusportals.atlassian.net/l/c/bbZJo2Tr

Also search for the contact that shows incorrectly in Nimbus (it is the contact against the Company Client Entity) and ensure you have disabled Folder Access, Folder Read/Write and Portal Access.
