  1. Click-and-hold on the document's icon and drag it to the folder you wish to move it to. The cursor handle becomes a small thumbnail of the file.
  2. When the destination folder highlights as green, release the mouse button and select either the Move or the Copy option.

From one folder to another folder but not the same Client - first example

You can still move / copy a file from one location to another, even if the Client is not the same.  The key is to setup a view which shows both Client Entities.  This can be achieved via the Documents menu.  If this cannot easily be achieved, you can perform the following:

...

  1. Select the Documents menu.
  2. Ensure you have a folder view on the left hand side, and a list view on the right.
  3. Using the Folder filter option on top of the folder list to filter to the Client folder where the document currently resides.  The document will then display on the right hand side of the page.
  4. Once you have the document showing on the right hand side of the page, clear the Folder filter option and enter a new filter to find the folder you wish to move the file to.

From one folder to another folder but not the same Client - second example

In this scenario, there may be times when you end up with two folders for the same client, and you wish to merge the client folders together.

  1. Rename one of the folders to include part of a phrase that is included in the other folder.  Example, if the client code was ABC01 for one of the folders and 8392153 for the other folder, edit the name of the 8392153 folder to include ABC01.
  2. Then via the Documents menu, perform the following:
    1. Select the All Documents view (from the view option on the Toolbar)
    2. Then enter the Client code into the Folder filter for the Client you are looking for (in this example, we've entered ABC)
    3. Then select to filter on ALL LEVELS - this means that the system will find ALL folders with ABC
    4. Once you have both of the folders there you wish to move files from and to on the same filter, you'll be able to move files and folders from one location to another.
